KO Effects (or Knockout Effects) are animations that play when a player is knocked off the stage in Brawlhalla.
Most unlockable KO Effects can be purchased from the Store and change what animation and sound plays when you knockout an enemy. The KO Effect you have equipped will also play if you accidentally fall off the stage, but not when you get KO'd by an enemy.
