← / → A short overhead chop in front. Has a short lunge that carries the Legend forward a short distance. Carries little force. 13 29 23 10 13 65 10 6 20 Quicker and safer than Neutral Light, but for less damage and knock back.
A quick cut in a high upwards diagonal in front, hitting above and in front of the player. 14 33 26 1 35 80 7 7 24 A fast attack that is the Axe's main grounded anti-air attack.

Has a broad sweep, but short length, very similar to the Neutral Air. 10 or 18 23 or 19 22 or 15 7 or 0 38 or 25 60 or 41 14 4 21 Will have different damage values depending on where the target is hit. ↑ / - / ← / → A leaping lunge forward and up into the air, followed by a 360 degree spin with the axe that hits everything around the Legend. Delivers a single, powerful strike to anything struck. 13, 15, 20 or 22 22 19 , 19 , 21 or 18 5 , 3 , 0 or -3 53, 48, 38, 30 or 22 75, 72, 66, 58 or 50 23 13 11 Can send the enemy flying in almost any direction, depending on his position compared to you during the attack. Both damage and force will vary according to whether the target is hit - most damage and force given when the target is 45 degrees above and in front of the player.
A double 360 degree downwards spin with the axe that hits everything around the Legend. Delivers several small hits to anything struck. Lasts a set time, but can be held before being executed. If the Legend hits the ground before the attack completes, the axe comes to a stop in front of the Legend. Up to 32 Up to 32 13 -7 0, 45 or 25 1, 50 or 80 18 (can be held up to 35 before a small hitbox appears) 25 or 8 if ground is hit (can be held before releasing while falling) 16 Can be released at any time to create a damage zone around you in the air. Damage varies according to how long the target is hit for. If attack is interrupted by hitting the ground, severely limits capacity for damage and force, as far fewer hitboxes are produced.

Combos

All combos are subject to change as the game gets tweaked from patch to patch.

Damage values are medians calculated from legends with equal attack and defense.

Strategies

For Legend-specific strategies, see individual Legend pages above
  • A stolid and hard hitting weapon, the axe focuses on broad, sweeping and powerful blows. While this works relatively well on the ground, it excels most in the air, where it's broad sweeps can cover the most space and making it very easy to land continual hits on your opponent while you're in the air. Generally speaking, think in broad arcs when attacking with the axe - if your opponent is anywhere within the arc of your move, they're gonna get chopped.
  • Axe light attacks can come out surprisingly quickly and in rapid succession despite it's large size. Use this to keep your opponents off balance, and to keep your assault unrelenting.
Axe heavy attacks have the broadest sweep, but can suffer from long cooldown times and easy predictability - use them judiciously, where they'll make the most impact.
  • Of all the weapons, the axe is likely the most forgiving in terms of it's angle of approach due to how sweeping it's attacks can be. Leverage this to press the advantage at any time and especially at unexpected times - the axe user needs less time to set up an attack that will hit, and that's more time that can be spent attacking. Swing confidently to keep the offensive.
  • While lacking few reliable strings or combos, one in particular sticks out which was added by the devs specifically to give the axe some stringing potential: SLight, followed by SAir.

Trivia

  • The axe is the only weapon that does not have a ground pound with a persistent hitbox. Axe's hitbox instead lasts a fixed amount of time.
