"Defender of the innocent and teacher of the lost ways."
—Mallhalla purchase description

Lin Fei is the 40th and a dexterous legend of the game. She was added on May 30, 2018. Her weapons are Katars and Cannon.

As the story goes...[]

"Lin Fei’s encyclopedic ‘History of the Martial Arts’ may be the greatest literature to emerge from Song Dynasy China. The story that Lin Fei mastered every technique she described is, of course, impossible."
—Wikipedia, wrongly.

Wu Shang tells of a time his Imperial soldiers raided a village for gunpowder,  and a young girl challenged them. This girl fought with such perfect skills for her home and family that it caused him to question everything about his own life.

That girl grew up with a passion for martial arts. She traveled to distant and dangerous lands in search of ancient forms. It was deep in the long lost Library of the Seventh Empire that she freed her family’s ancestral guardian, the dragon Xiao.

She became a renowned teacher and scholar, often dealing out her lessons the hard way. She thrashed the marauding mountain giants, then taught them how to use their size to proper advantage. When the Emperor’s very first ninjas challenged her to open combat, she clobbered them, then she advised them that wearing black and tip-toeing might be more their thing.

in Valhalla, Lin Fei has not yet told Wu Shang that she was the girl from his fateful day. She has, however, told him how to improve his Fist of Fire technique with a few breathing tweaks. Top legends seek out Lin Fei to refine their own styles or learn new moves. She taught Cassidy the Tornado, Azoth his Shrieking Skulls, and Roland the Flaming Horse. Volkov dedicated his first Asgardian Cup to her. The closest Thatch has ever come to gratitude was when Lin Fei taught him to tap his deepest inner lunatic to summon the Spirit Shark.

"My own fighting style I named ‘Way of the Iron Dragon.’ It failed to gain much popularity with my students – probably because the pre-requisites are a full-size cannon, an ancestral dragon-spirit, and the strength of ten men."
—Lin Fei

She is a Chinese woman and she wears traditional blue-yellow-white clothes. Her hairs are black and long.

Input Description Damage Stun Force
Neutral Lin Fei crouches low in place, crossing her katars over her chest, to charge. She twirls into a standing position, raising her rear katar as she does so, and a flaming spirit dragon coils upwards from her rising blade, rising high over her head. The dragon lingers before dissipating and knocks anything struck by it straight upwards.

Lin Fei drops into a low rear bow stance to charge, then quickly advances, twirling twice as she does so, her Katars spiraling alongside. She ends with a head-height thrust with her rear Katar, which emits a fuming spirit-dragon head, extending the range of this last strike a moderate amount.
Lin Fei jumps diagonally forward into the air, gathering a bundle of fire in her Katars and readying it over her head in the air before coming back down in a similar diagonal, hurtling the fire at the ground where she will land. If there is no ground underneath, the fire drops farther than it would before dissipating.

Input Description Damage Stun Force
Neutral An arcing uppercut strike with the business end of the cannon, fuming with flames. Carries Lin Fei slightly into the air, and slightly forward.

Lin Fei leaps forward, cannon puffing flames, twirling the weapon horizontally around her as she starts to land. She lands and drops onto her front hand and kicks forward, striking with her foot and the flaming cannon simultaneously before coming back onto her feet. Strikes twice and carries Lin Fei a significant distance forward.
A short backflip is punctuated by a shot from the cannon directly at the spot Lin Fei was standing in. The shot plumes forwards into a gnawing spirit dragon head as it strikes the ground, which bites up at anyone in the blast. With no ground, the dragon head instead bites at a sharp angle downwards.

Color Variations[]

  • Lin Fei's default weapons are the Martial Blades (Katars) and Cannon Strike (Cannon).
  • Lin Fei's Legend name during development was "Wu Xia", a Mandarin Chinese term translating roughly to "martial arts hero".
  • Lin Fei's cannon is a reference to Chinese developments in gunpowder and cannon weapons, relatively early in the history of civilization.
